Holy cow is it cold outside today in Chicagoland. I am sitting at my desk in my snow boots writing this. I understand we are all a bit frozen right now, but your online marketing does not have to be. This is a good time of year to take stock in your marketing and to analyze if your plan is working.
So here is my quick Wednesday list of ways to thaw out your cold Internet marketing:
#1: Analyze Analytics
Do you look at your Google analytics at least once a month? (More often if you are a busy URL.) Look at these important reports and see what trends are showing up in them. What looks like it used to have good traffic but is now on a downtrend? What words and phrases are being Googled to find you? (This feature will be disappearing soon, but more on that in another Blog post) Update your website, squeeze pages, white papers, blogs and videos to leverage your analytics.
#2: Google yourself
No, not you personally, unless you are the business. Google your business. What shows up? Is all of the information correct? Are the correct pages showing up? If not, FIX IT and fix it now. Not sure how to fix it? Call us. We can help.
#3: Be social
Especially in cold weather climates, people are indoors and on their computers and social media sites more often. Be social across all platforms, or know what platforms your type of clientele will be involved with. If you are a B2B company, you will spend more time on LinkedIn than on Facebook or Pinterest. If you are a retailer, you will spend more time with Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, maybe even Etsy. Know your clients, know where they are hanging out and chat with them. Seriously, they want to have a conversation, not be talked at. Make sure you are including relevant and interesting copy and start a conversation.
Yep, write. Everybody, including me, hates to do it, but write. Write a blog, write a video skit, or write an educational essay. (Kind of like this article) Teach your potential clients something and they will believe in you. Video has taken over the world. More video is watched than content read anymore. Web surfers want the instant gratification of a quick short video. (Next week this blog will be a video, aren’t you excited?)
What is your competition doing online? If you do not know, you had better find out right now. Do you need to be duplicating it? Or defending against it? Or touting your superior services? Get on that and keep watching them. Even subscribing to Google alerts helps.
Keeping up on these few items on a regular basis will help you with your online presence. It will keep your leads from getting cold and heat up your marketing, now, get to it.
